Earlier this year, NerdWallet released a nationwide study that identified the country’s best cities for women small business owners. Most were found out West, in California and Colorado, but Minneapolis-St. Paul held its own — taking 8th nationwide. (You can read our detailed analysis of the findings here.)

NerdWallet apparently isn’t the only national publisher with its eyes on Minnesota’s women leaders. Earlier this month, Enterprising Women magazine released its annual list of game-changing women business owners: the 2016 Enterprising Women of the Year.

The list honored dozens of women business leaders from around the world, including far-flung places like Turkey and Uganda. Closer to home, four Minnesota leaders made the cut:

Per Enterprising Women, winning nominees “must demonstrate that they have fast-growth businesses, mentor or actively support other women and girls involved in entrepreneurship, and stand out as leaders in their communities. Many of the honorees also serve as leaders of the key organizations that support the growth of women’s entrepreneurship.”

The awards ceremony will be folded into the 14th Annual Enterprising Women of the Year Awards Celebration & Conference, slated for Sunday, February 28, 2016, to Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove in Miami.
